You

You

To fully benefit from the coaching intervention at ExecutivesGrow, it’s important that you, as the coachee, embody certain qualities and attributes. These attributes will ensure that the coaching process is effective and transformational, leading you towards your personal and professional aspirations.

Openness to Feedback and Deeper Self-Discovery

A willingness to receive and act on feedback is crucial. You need to be open to constructive criticism and external perspectives as this openness allows you to see areas for improvement that might otherwise remain hidden. We will utilise tools such as the Johari Window to see where your self-awareness blind spots are, and you need to be open to that type of exploration.

Self-Awareness and Reflection

High self-awareness and the ability to reflect on your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions are key to effective coaching. You should be introspective and eager to understand yourself better, enabling deeper insights and more meaningful progress.

Goal-Oriented Mindset

Having clear objectives and a strong sense of direction will help focus our coaching sessions. You need to come with specific goals and a purposeful attitude, making it easier to channel coaching strategies towards achieving your ambitions.

Resilience and Adaptability

Resilience and adaptability are essential in navigating the unpredictable business environment. You should be able to maintain a positive attitude and handle setbacks with grace, using coaching insights to overcome obstacles effectively. I will teach you ways to do this with cognitive-behavioural coaching techniques which enable you to maintain calm under pressure.

Integrity and Accountability

Upholding honesty and accountability is fundamental. You need to take responsibility for your actions and follow through on your commitments, fostering a trust-based partnership that drives progress. I can give you the golden ticket, but you need to take the train.

Curiosity and a Learning Orientation

A strong sense of curiosity and a desire to learn are vital. You should be eager to explore new ideas and approaches, always looking to expand your knowledge and skills, making you receptive to innovative coaching strategies.

Emotional Intelligence

Understanding and managing your emotions, as well as those of others, is crucial. You need to possess a good level of emotional intelligence to enhance your interpersonal relationships and leadership effectiveness. We will work on this together of course, and we will make you a master of your emotions and an expert on others around you. However, you need to have a foundational degree of emotional competence to proceed.

Willingness to be Vulnerable

Being open and vulnerable is essential for deep, transformative coaching. You should be willing to share your true thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment, allowing for more meaningful and impactful coaching sessions.

This is where I get a little controversial. I am a big proponent of shadow work, which entails looking into suppressed feelings, emotions and thoughts. You need to be courageous enough to stare your shadow in the face. However dark, scary, politically incorrect your shadow may be, it is essential to shine a light on the dark side of our psyche, so that we know what is fully behind our actions and what is driving our subconscious. What comes after such a courageous act of delving deep into the shadow is a sense of great catharsis. This sharing acts as a crucial release valve.

You will be liberated to share unfiltered thoughts however dark or inappropriate without the fear of being judged, in the knowledge that you are in the presence of a skilled professional who understands that our shadows are merely a part of being human, and not a definitive measure of our character.

IMPORTANT: There is no obligation to share anything, you're always in the driver's seat of our coaching sessions. How deep you want to go and how far you want to explore the rabbit hole of your psyche is entirely up to you.

Strategic Thinking

The ability to see the big picture and plan for the future is key. You should be capable of strategic thinking, understanding how your actions and decisions align with your long-term goals, enabling informed decisions that drive sustained success. This will involve deferring gratification and learning patience when it comes to some aspects of success, and also; the embracing of uncertainty and a relentless accepting of the unknown as a part of the wonderful experience that is life.

The Ability to Sacrifice and Endure Pain

Success often demands significant sacrifices and the ability to endure pain. For example shedding old habits and relationships that no longer serve your aspirations. Sometimes, this journey involves cutting out elements of your life that you hold dear, cutting out people who may prevent you from reaching your goals. This painful process requires you to sew your heart back up and march forward with unwavering determination.

Focus Over Life Balance

Achieving elite success frequently involves a relentless focus that can overshadow the notion of life balance, which in reality, unfortunately, doesn't really go well together with being ultra-successful. This focus often necessitates time lost with friends, family, and loved ones, which can be one of the most challenging aspects of the journey. However, this sacrifice is made in pursuit of a future you will be proud of—a future built on the foundation of hard choices and unwavering commitment to your vision. Therefore, you will need to decide what means more to you in the bigger picture of life, and there are no obvious answers here.

By embodying these qualities and maintaining an open and receptive attitude, you will maximise the benefits of the coaching intervention. How much you give to this process is up to you. The more you give to this process, the more you will get out of this journey. I encourage all my clients to be courageous and willing to pay the price of greatness. I am of the belief that our biggest burdens in life are the opportunities we didn't take, the "what ifs". But as long as blood is flowing through your veins, and your heart is cheering you on with it's beat, you can emancipate who you are meant to be.
